Pull it up, it's a lantern. Push it down, it's a torch.

A collapsible camping light with a small solar cell on top and USB charging for when the sun is not playing. Extend the body and five LEDs light the tent; collapse it and the base works as a handheld torch. There is no switch to hunt for in the dark: up is on, down is off.

Why we like it

• Two ways to charge: USB (about 3 to 4 hours) or the built-in solar panel for a daytime top-up
• Lantern and torch in one; no separate handheld needed
• 7.5 cm across, 13 cm collapsed, 19 cm extended, 300 g
• Comes with a charging cable in a gift box

Good to know

The solar cell is a top-up rather than a full recharge, so charge it from a power bank before a trip. Good as a second light for the tent porch or the kids' tent.
